LOS ANGELES — Ahead of the much-anticipated release of NBA 2K27, more details have emerged about the new features and additions to the game. At NBA 2K Community Day in Los Angeles on Tuesday, NBA 2K revealed a host of new additions to Gameplay, MyCareer, MyTEAM, MyPlayer, The City, and The W. Headlined by new offensive actions, including the step-through up-and-under, a refreshed Dynamic Layup Engine, and Expanded Dribbling Customization, and an overhauled defensive system, the overall flow of the gameplay stands out, but it's the new modes and maps that will have gamers excited. MyCareer Eras A truly immersive story mode, MyCAREER eras now allows gamers to select five different immortal eras of NBA history to begin your journey to the top. From the Magic vs. Bird Era (1984), the Jordan Era (1991), the Kobe Era (2003), the LeBron Era (2010), and the Steph Era (2016), the revamped story mode builds your character as you would in MyCAREER, but drops them into one of the legendary eras to compete alongside or against the GOATS of the game. "[The era I would play in is] probably the 2010s, that’s just me as a big basketball fan. That Heatles LeBron era is what I grew up with," Tyrese Haliburton said at Community Day. "That’s exciting, playing in many different eras; it’s officiated different, teams are different, you can see how guys can progress, and you know how they’re going to progress." You can also go down the standard MyCAREER path and play the 'Fire & Concrete' storyline, which features 11 chapters — double the amount as NBA 2K26 — that take your character from high school through to the NBA. Hold up...is that Vince Staples? OK, this might be the best part of the new game. As part of the 'Fire & Concrete' storyline, your player's journey, which starts as a high school phenom, who commits to Duke before a car crash derails your plans, has an added storyline. After the setback, the story picks back up in New York City at Rucker Park, and right by your side, through the G League to the pros, is your cousin Cam – voiced by rapper/actor Vince Staples. Staples, who motion-captured the character, along with voicing Cam, will also feature on the game's soundtrack. No notes. The Rucker debuts in The City Perhaps the coolest inclusion of this year's game is the world's most iconic streetball court, Rucker Park. The Harlem blacktop serves as a key location in the 'Fire & Concrete' storyline in MyCAREER, but the real action comes in Street Kings mode, where you can assemble your 3x3 squad to run the court at The Mecca The meticulous recreation of Rucker Park is the best backdrop for the weekly tournaments, which feature a play-in round, followed by a best-of-five bracket and single-elimination games of 21.
