Lobo volleyball kicks off season with new coach and high hopes ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Lobo volleyball opens a new era under coach Brian Hosfeld as they prepare for exhibition matches against Northern Arizona and Arizona at the Pit. The Lobos are getting ready for the season with Hosfeld now leading the program. He said returning players helped make the transition smooth as they worked with newcomers. “I like the word foundation for sure, because that without them, there wouldn’t be that foundation,” UNM head coach Brian Hosfeld said. “I mean, we would have been scrambling to try to find a group that could come in and do that. So to have them buy in really made things easier for us. Because it’s been pretty seamless.” New Mexico starts exhibition play this weekend at the Pit. The Lobos face Northern Arizona on Friday and Arizona on Saturday. Players said accountability, hard work and teamwork will shape the season. “I think it’s just going to take a lot of accountability and hard work,” Reagan Miller said. “But I feel like we’ve really got the coaching staff to do it. I think we got the group of girls to do it.” “Play together,” Seenane Brewer said. “I think that’s the biggest thing is playing together as a team. And, you know, remembering that we’re playing for the state of New Mexico and that we’re playing for a bigger purpose.”
