NFL rivalries run deep, and a new social media question is giving football fans the opportunity to do something they could normally only dream about: erase two NFL franchises forever. Total Pro Sports posed the question on X, asking fans, “You can DELETE two NFL teams forever. Who are you getting rid of?” It’s a simple question, but choosing only two teams makes things much more difficult. Cowboys fans could immediately target the Philadelphia Eagles, while Eagles fans would probably be more than happy to return the favor. The AFC North provides plenty of options as well. Steelers, Ravens, Bengals and Browns fans have spent decades developing legitimate hatred for one another. The same can be said for rivalries such as Packers-Bears, Chiefs-Raiders and 49ers-Rams. But there’s another way to approach the question: remove the franchises that have caused the rest of the NFL the most pain. That could put teams such as the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys or San Francisco 49ers near the top of plenty of lists. There are no rules beyond picking two, which makes the debate much more interesting. Would you erase a team that is notoriously bad every season? Would you eliminate your favorite team’s two biggest division rivals and make the path to the playoffs easier? Would you erase two of the NFL’s most successful franchises and completely rewrite league history? Or would you simply choose the two fan bases you enjoy rooting against the most? With 32 franchises and only two selections, almost everyone will have a different answer.
