VIDEO: The latest on All Blacks playmaker Damian McKenzie
All Blacks assistant coach Tana Umaga has provided an important injury update on utility back Damian McKenzie ahead of the first Test of the Greatest Rivalry Series against the Springboks at Ellis Park on Saturday.
McKenzie, who hurt his ankle in one of the warm-up matches against the Sharks, missed out on the Bulls clash last Saturday, which the Kiwis won 50-19.
On Monday, head coach Dave Rennie said he had a light run and did some work with the physio.

Rennie also added they would get more clarity on the Chiefs playmaker after 24 hours.
McKenzie trained with the side on Tuesday, and went through some passing and kicking drills with Beauden Barrett on the far side of the field.
Umaga, who addressed the media, said the 31-year-old is not ruled out of selection just yet.

“He was sharp today,” Umaga said.
“He got through what he needed to get through. So, he’s trending well for being available this weekend. That’s all we can ask.
“Our medical staff have done a really good job, as well as our S&C [Strength and Conditioning], to make sure that they’re taking every precaution they can, by making sure that he puts his best foot forward to be available for the team.”
The All Blacks are also expected to welcome back Will Jordan and Cam Roigard, who both haven’t featured in this tour.
There’s still uncertainty over the fitness of Cortez Ratima after sustaining a knee injury against the Bulls, but Rennie has called up Crusaders’ back Noah Hotham to provide scrumhalf cover.
Rennie will name his matchday squad on Thursday.
