The Pleasanton Seahawks were the dominant team of the 2026 PC Summer Far Western Championships, where swimmers like Max Pollicove, Robert Legg, and Esme Quay earned numerous medals and put up top times in their events.
Max Pollicove, 14, swimming for the Pleasanton Seahawks, was one of the standout swimmers at the competition. He left the meet with eight gold medals and one silver, excelling in the 13-14 boys age group. Pollicove stood out in the 1500 free, where he swam a best time of 16:08.95, dropping 30.62 off his previous time of 16:39.57. His time ranks him 3rd among 13-14 boys this season in the 1500 free and 65th all-time for 13-14 boys in the event. The race was by far his biggest improvement of the meet and capped a week of impressive freestyle performances.
Pollicove also lowered his personal bests in the 100 free from 56.41 to 54.82, 200 free from 1:58.43 to 1:57.11, 400 free from 4:07.57 to 4:04.93, and the 800 free from 8:36.17 to 8:31.06. His 400 free time put him in the books as the 6th-best time for 13-14 boys this season and 70th all-time for the age group. In addition to individual wins, Pollicove’s 400 free and 1500 free times qualify him for the Speedo Winter Junior Championship – West, which will take place in December in Austin, Texas.
Pollicove was not the only star for the Pleasanton Seahawks, which scored a total of 2191 points with 80 gold medals, far exceeding the other teams at the meet, with the number two team in points, Santa Clara Swim Club, earning 1457.5 points and Orinda Aquatics finishing second in gold medals, garnering 28 golds. The club also produced several additional multi-event winners, including 10-year-old Robert Legg.
Legg earned a total of nine gold medals in both his individual and relay events, winning races in freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly. His most dominant area was sprint freestyle, where he took gold in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free. Legg’s performances helped highlight the depth of Pleasanton’s team, which consistently placed multiple swimmers among the top performers.
One of those top swimmers was Esme Quay, the 18-year-old University of Nevada, Las Vegas commit. Quay left the meet with three golds, three silvers, and a bronze. Her dominant performance came in the 200 breaststroke, where she dropped 4.28 seconds for a best time of 2:47.56 and beat out second-place Anna Motes by 1.34 seconds.
