Williams has confirmed that Alex Albon is to remain with the team through the 2027 Formula 1 season, locking in the Thai’s commitment. Albon has been with Williams since 2022, and recently overtook Nigel Mansell for the record of most Grands Prix entered for the Grove-based squad. After a year out of F1 amid his axing from Red Bull after the 2020 season, Albon made his F1 return with Williams, and immediately impressed, as the team struggled at the wrong end of the grid. Albon’s commitment to the team has rarely been questioned, and whilst speculation continues to rumble about teammate Carlos Sainz’s future, one half of its garage is guaranteed for next season. In a statement, Albon said: “Since joining Atlassian Williams F1 Team in 2022, the transformation this team has made is difficult to put into words. One tough year doesn’t tell the full picture, and it only gives me more motivation to keep building and pushing together with the factory and our fans to achieve great things. Our story is not over yet, so my full focus now is on doing whatever it takes to get us back up the grid.” Team Principal James Vowles said: “I am delighted that Alex and Atlassian Williams F1 Team are continuing our extraordinary journey together. Alex has been a leader of this transformation project since day one and we have plenty of unfinished business that we are determined to achieve.
