Shamrock Rovers have been fined and given a suspended one-match closure of the South Stand in Tallaght Stadium for the remainder of the season following an incident in which a supporter entered the pitch in their Premier Division match with Dundalk earlier this month. The Hoops have described the fine imposed by the FAI's Independent Disciplinary body as "significant". The individual has been banned "indefinitely" from attending home and away games by Shamrock Rovers. In a statement, the club said: "The safety and wellbeing of our players, supporters, match officials, stewards and all other personnel at Tallaght Stadium is paramount. "Entering the field of play presents a significant safety risk and cannot be accepted under any circumstances. "The club fully accepts the disciplinary committee's decision and will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities, matchday safety operations team and all other stakeholders to ensure that our fixtures remain safe and welcoming environments for everyone. "The message is clear to all supporters that any further incidents of this nature could have serious consequences for the club, including the activation of the suspended South Stand closure.
