Roberto De Zerbi is currently blocking Mikey Moore from leaving Tottenham Hotspur to join Cologne, because he wants a signing in the area first. BILD Rhineland’s Tuesday print edition explains the 19-year-old is currently in limbo, waiting for De Zerbi to sanction his temporary loan exit. Cologne are currently desperate for signings before starting the Bundesliga season. In order to prevent panic, sports chief Thomas Kessler recently insisted that reinforcements would be arriving soon. “Fundamentally, I believe something will happen regarding new signings in the coming week,” he said this week. Mikey Moore deal pending One of the signings he hopes to so see completed is the deal to sign Mikey Moore on loan from Tottenham. Sport Witness have covered reports explaining that his deal was practically done. But BILD explain it has stalled because Roberto De Zerbi is still waiting for reinforcements himself. He, therefore, has delayed green lighting the deal, which has already been negotiated. For now, there is no panic on Cologne’s side. The youngster is expected to arrive soon. He will join on a season-long loan deal without an option to buy. What could pull the trigger The replacement that De Zerbi wants is Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo. Indeed, Sport Witness covered a report last week explaining that Gakpo has already spoken to De Zerbi, is keen on the move to Tottenham and Liverpool were assessing a €60m+ bid. They want the deal done quickly and are trying to make that happen. That would suggest the winger is the man that De Zerbi wants through the door before sanctioning Moore’s exit. For now, the youngster appears to be in limbo, waiting for movement elsewhere and De Zerbi’s approval before he can head to Germany.
