Bayern Munich 2-1 Aston Villa highlights and player ratings after pre-season defeat
BirminghamLive brings you live coverage of Aston Villa's pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich (1pm kick-off)
Aston Villa take on German giants Bayern Munich in Hong Kong as they wrap up their pre-season tour of Asia. Unai Emery’s side have already beaten the Indonesia All-Stars and BG Pathum United in their previous two Far East friendlies.
Bayern, meanwhile, have played three friendlies this summer, recording victories over Wehen Wiesbaden, Rottach-Egern and Jeju SK.
After facing Bayern today, Villa will turn their attention to Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain, which kicks off at 8pm in Salzburg.
Having already faced Walsall, FC Porto and Real Sociedad, Villa will play their eighth pre-season fixture next Saturday when they travel to Germany to take on Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The new Premier League campaign begins for Villa away to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, August 23.

Key Events
Aston Villa end their Asia Tour with a 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup clash with PSG.
João Gomes was outstanding and produced a lovely finish to beat Manuel Neuer, but Tammy Abraham should have equalised moments later.
Tammy Abraham should have equalised! Burrowes chipped the ball into the box, where Abraham was waiting to head in, but Manuel Neuer produces an excellent save.
Joao Gomes halves Villa's deficit with a lovely strike from the edge of the box to beat Manuel Neuer.
Brad Burrowes, Kosta Nedeljkovic and Triston Rowe have all come on for Emi Buendia, Matty Cash and Ian Maatsen.
Luis Diaz has been electric since coming on for Bayern in the 63rd minute. He's now added a second for the German champions.
Tammy Abraham stops what would have been a certain goal. Diaz struck from the edge of the box after Villa failed to clear the danger from a corner, but there was Abraham on the line to clear the ball. He read that situation very well.
Marco Bizot makes a brilliant double save to keep the score at just 1-0. After Diaz tried to get the better of Cash, the ball fell for Stanisic to slam towards goal, but Bizot saved with his feet, before then springing up to deny Ibrahimovic.
Ito, Palhinha and Luis Diaz have all just come on for Bayern.
Tammy Abraham and Lamare Bogarde are both coming on, with Brian Madjo and Boubacar Kamara being replaced.
João Gomes drove towards the edge of the box before winning a free-kick after being shoved from behind. Emi Buendía's delivery was inch-perfect, but Evann Guessand couldn't turn it into the net, opting to volley when a header looked the better option. A great chance goes begging for Villa.
Unai Emery has opted to keep the same team out for the start of the second period. No changes yet.
Villa trail at the break after Kim Min-Jae headed in Tom Bischof's free-kick. Villa had just one effort on target in the first half and, aside from Brian Madjo's physicality, did not cause many problems for the German champions before the interval.
Kim Min-Jae heads in from Tom Bischof's free-kick.
Bayern winger Cardozo goes into the book for pulling Guessand back just as the Villa forward looked set to burst into the final third.
Pavlovic creates half a yard of space on the edge of the box before trying his luck against Marco Bizot. The Villa goalkeeper is equal to it, though, getting down well to beat the ball away to safety.
Bayern knock the ball down the left-hand side, looking to release their young winger Cardozo, but Matty Cash defends well and sees the ball out for a Villa goal kick.
Villa are looking impressive in tight spaces, with Ian Maatsen showing great composure as he wriggles his way out of danger down the left flank.
Joao Gomes found Brian Madjo down the left channel, but after moving into the box his shot was blocked. Picking up the loose ball, Madjo protected it with his strength, before winning a corner.
Emi Buendia’s delivery was cleared at the near post.
Arijon Ibrahimovic tried to guide the ball into the far corner from the edge of the box, but it goes behind for a corner after Ian Maatsen made a key block. Looked like the ball was just sneaking in had it not been for the left-backs intervention.
Underway at the Kai Tak Stadium...
Stay tuned for updates and goal alerts through the afternoon.
Both teams are back out on the pitch as they make their final preparations for kick-off, which is now just a few minutes away.
Villa are wearing their new third kit today: a light blue shirt with claret shorts and socks. They'll wear the same shirt against PSG, but paired with white shorts and socks instead.
Kick-off is coming your way shortly...
Evann Guessand is expected to start on the right wing today, a change from the striker role he occupied in the last two matches during the Far East tour.
Brian Madjo starts up front, with Emi Buendía and George Hemmings providing support behind him.
Boubacar Kamara and João Gomes are expected to form the double pivot that could start against Brighton on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. They'll need to build that partnership quickly.
Victor Lindelöf partners Pau Torres at the heart of the defence, while Matty Cash and Ian Maatsen line up as the full-backs. Marco Bizot starts in goal.
We already know that John McGinn and Alejandro Garnacho are both injured, hence why they do not feature in the squad to face Bayern.
But Emery is also without Ross Barkley, Alysson and Modou Cisse today. Perhaps he has one eye on the Super Cup on Wednesday night, and feels it's not worth risking anyone should they feel any issues.
