LAHORE - The Model Town Zone Cricket Association has announced the first-ever U-15 tournament at club level in Lahore. The tournament aims to provide talented youngsters with regular, competitive cricket against players of their own age while creating a pathway for them to progress to regional cricket. Model Town Zone Cricket Association President Malik Imran Bucha said the initiative would address the shortage of age-group opportunities at club level, where young cricketers often find limited chances to compete against players in their own age category. He said the tournament would be organised on a league basis, allowing participating clubs to play more matches and giving selectors a broader opportunity to assess young players. Performance, technical ability, fitness, discipline and long-term potential will be key factors in identifying standout performers. Bucha said promising players would be provided further opportunities and groomed for potential selection for Lahore Region U-15 cricket. He added that the initiative was not merely about staging a tournament but about establishing a stronger talent pathway from club cricket to regional cricket. “The foundation of strong cricket is laid at a young age through quality and competitive opportunities,” Bucha said, expressing hope that the tournament would help produce a new generation of talented cricketers for Lahore and Pakistan.
