EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 17, 2026) – After conceding two goals in the opening 20 minutes, Mount St. Mary's attempted to rally against the visiting Towson Tigers. While the defense put the clamp down and prevented further scoring, the offense came up short on mustering a goal in a 2-0 final. Goalkeeper Abby Makela reached 100 career saves, stopping five Tigers shots. Although Towson earned plenty of shot attempts, only seven of the 22 chances registered on goals. Payton Meara once again led the defense with 90 minutes played, followed by Lyndsay Heath with 79. On the offensive end, Erin Antone registered the full 90. Two Mountaineers – freshmen Merete Drees and Addy Gallagher – made their first career starts. With the result, Mount St. Mary's is 0-2 for the season. HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED - Towson received a penalty in the sixth minute, confirmed upon video review – the first coach's challenge in Mount history. Kale'a Perry scored the attempt. - Meron Koro tallied her goal in the 18th minute, creating with own shot with several dribbles and registering a lower left hand corner shot. - Fineen Cregan and Cassidy Nichols tallied shots for the Mount, with the attempt by Nichols forcing a diving save from Towson's Teagan Gardner.
