In his first full season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Doncic put forth one of the best years of his career. Doncic led the NBA in scoring and was an All-NBA First Team selection who finished fourth in regular season MVP voting. Quite simply, Doncic reminded the basketball world that he is truly one of the best basketball players in the world. And that is being reflected in the ratings for the upcoming NBA 2K27 video game. Doncic received a 96 rating, coming in as the fourth-highest rated player in the entire game, via NBA 2K on X: NBA 2K27 Top 💯 No. 4 | @lukadoncic pic.twitter.com/EQgTuSkzpu — NBA 2K (@NBA2K) August 17, 2026 Doncic’s rating is actually tied with New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson and Miami Heat star Giannis Antetokounmpo, with the three players ahead of him being reigning back-to-back MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama and former three-time MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, all of whom received a 97 rating. Doncic surely doesn’t care about his rating on a video game as he is far more focused on leading this Lakers franchise back to the top of the NBA and winning his first NBA Championship. But it is a sign that he is a true foundational piece and the face of this team. The run that Doncic went on down the stretch of last season was unreal. In the month of March, he averaged 37.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists while shooting 49.2% from the field and 39.2% from 3-point range. This included a stretch of 13 consecutive games with at least 30 points, with five of those being 40-point nights, a 51-point night and a 60-point night. The pressure will be on Doncic even more this coming season with LeBron James gone as the Lakers are now fully his squad and he is the leader and face of this franchise. The people at NBA 2K clearly feel his talent is otherworldly and he could still rise up those rankings even more if he picks up where he left off from last year. Other Lakers NBA 2K27 ratings Outside of Doncic, the Lakers have two other highly-rated players as Austin Reaves was revealed to be an 88 while Walker Kessler is an 81.
