Manchester United have officially confirmed the permanent departure of Ethan Ennis, bringing his Old Trafford journey to an end. The Red Devils announced that Ennis has completed a move to League One outfit Stockport County. Ennis began his career at Liverpool but turned down the chance to extend his contract with the Reds before joining United in 2021. The winger quickly became a regular for both the under-18s and under-21s before heading out on loan to Doncaster in January 2025. He enjoyed an impressive spell at Fleetwood Town last season, producing six goals and eight assists in 46 appearances across all competitions. According to journalist Steven Railston, United have received a fee for this sale and have also inserted a 50% sell-on clause. The Red Devils have gone a step further by including buy-back and matching rights clauses, ensuring they retain significant control over his future. Primarily a winger, Ennis showcased his versatility at Fleetwood by thriving in a wing-back role. With Ennis set to turn 22 later this year, United have decided that now is the right time to part ways and allow him to continue his development elsewhere. The youngster becomes the latest academy product to leave Old Trafford permanently this summer, following Ethan Williams and Radek Vitek through the exit door. Toby Collyer and Dan Gore could be next, with both midfielders attracting interest as United prepare for a potentially busy final fortnight of the transfer window. The Red Devils face a hectic end to the summer, with INEOS also needing to secure at least two quality additions to give head coach Michael Carrick the squad depth required for the new campaign.
