Ajax legend Ronald de Boer has highlighted Tolu Arokodare's pace as one of the striker’s key strengths, suggesting the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee could pose a threat on the counter-attack for the Dutch giants. Having fallen out of favour at Wolves, the Nigeria international recently completed a season-long loan move to Ajax and quickly endeared himself to the fans by scoring on his unofficial debut in a 3-1 pre-season victory over FC Volendam. Arokodare will have to wait for his competitive debut for Ajax after he was an unused substitute in Thursday’s UEFA Conference League clash with Irish side Shelbourne FC. Ahead of kickoff, Arokodare was seen standing alone on the centre circle at the Johan Cruijff ArenA and praying for several minutes. "Did you see him before the match? Tolu was standing on the center circle praying, I think for five or ten minutes. He was standing there all alone. Then he went inside. So that will be fine tonight, I think," Ronald de Boer said on Ziggo Sports, via Voetbal Primeur . Arokodare earned praise from the retired Netherlands international, who pointed to his physicality, technique and pace. "Tolu has speed, so you can also use him on the counter-attack. His technique is pretty good, from what I’ve heard," De Boer concluded. Ajax secured a 3-1 victory over Shelbourne, with Mika Godts, Owen Wijndal and Kasper Dolberg getting on the scoresheet for the Dutch side, while Daniel Kelly scored a late consolation for the visitors.
