England star Ivan Toney charged by cops after 'headbutt' at Soho nightclub
England and Al-Ahli star Ivan Toney has been charged with assault following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police following an incident at a London nightclub last year
England footballer Ivan Toney, 30, has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm over an incident at a nightclub in Soho, London.
The Metropolitan Police say the charge is in relation to an incident back in December 2025. Toney was charged by police last month on July 31.
The England World Cup star was arrested and led out of the London club in a video published by the Sun following the incident. The publication also reported on December 8 that Toney had been arrested after an alleged headbutt. According to reports, the alleged incident took place at 100 Wardour Street, which has since closed.
Toney's spokesperson has said the stiker is "naturally shocked" by the charged but added he is keen to "clear his name in court.”
The spokesperson for Toney said: “Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”
Toney, who currently plays in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ahli, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in relation to the charge on September 24.
In a statement, the Met Police said: "A man has been charged with assault following a Met investigation. Ivan Toney, 30, of Northampton, was charged on Thursday, 31 July with assault causing actual bodily harm.
"He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 24 September. The charge relates to an assault, which reportedly took place on 6 December 2025 at a nightclub on Wardour Street, W1."
Toney, who was a striker for Brentford, was at the centre of one of the most curious transfers on deadline day in August 2024 when he completed a late move to Al-Ahli worth a reported £40 million.
Toney was with England's World Cup squad in the US and Mexico after being allowed to travel despite still being on bail in relation to the charge.
However, Toney’s was granted unconditional and he was successfully awarded a visa into the US.
