'I am born for that' - Tarik Muharemović delivers fighting talk as Leeds United prepare for Premier League
Tarik Muharemović has spoken ahead of Leeds United’s return to Premier League action
Tarik Muharemović has claimed he was “born” for tough tests as Leeds United prepare for a return to Premier League action.
The 23-year-old was a £34m acquisition from Sassuolo last month, arriving at Elland Road to plug the gap in defence created by Pascal Struijk’s move to Brighton & Hove Albion.
He has impressed in pre-season friendlies, generating plenty of excitement ahead of Leeds’ league opener at Nottingham Forest on Saturday (August 22).
Leeds United’s Tarik Muharemović ready for Premier League
After helping Leeds round off their pre-season programme with a 4-0 rout of FC Augsburg at the weekend, he said: “It feels amazing since I arrived, really.
“The love I get from the guys, from the staff, from the coaches, it is really special. How they welcome you, first of all, and then how we train.
“We really work hard every day and we know what team we are going to expect. We just want to show our qualities, to show our best sides and we go on step by step and achieve our goals.
“We all know it is the best and the hardest league in the world so I am ready. I know it is going to be tough, it is going to be hard, but I am born for that. Now I just want to fight with my teammates, with the whole club, to achieve our goals.”

The centre-back was on the scoresheet at the weekend, registering his first Elland Road goal with an acrobatic effort.
He said: “I just jumped. I just tried. Thank God it went how it went. First goal at home, a special moment.
“But at the end of the day, I am really happy how we finished the pre-season. I am really happy how the whole team played and how we fought. We showed our qualities and that is how we want to start the new season.”
