Rangers set Youssef Chermiti transfer price that Besiktas 'could agree' to pay imminently claims agent The Glasgow giants don't want to let their frontman leave this summer amid rising interest Rangers have reportedly set their asking price for Youssef Chermiti as they look to scare off interest in Turkey. The Portuguese striker had an up-and-down debut season at Ibrox last term, initially struggling to deliver on the eyebrow-raising £8million they paid for him to join from Everton. However, he improved as the season went on – netting a hat-trick against Hearts in February as well as an impressive brace against Celtic - eventually ending the campaign with 15 goals to his name. His form in the back half of the campaign vindicated their reported decision to knock back a £13m bid from Fenerbahce in January. But now reports in Turkey suggest that both Galatasaray and Besiktas are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old - with PSV Eindhoven, Porto and Lyon also touted as potential suitors earlier this summer. Turkish agent and consultant Osman Altunterim has now lifted the lid on his intel about a move, claiming that the Glasgow giants won't accept any less than €30million (£25.7million) for the frontman. It's understood Rangers are keen to keep Chermiti at the club. He also insists that Galatasaray are unlikely to make a move to provide cover for Victor Osimhen at that price - but with the striker reportedly nearing a switch to Atletico Madrid interest could ramp up again. Posting to X, Altunterim said: "I know where this name came from, who suggested it to the club, what the conditions are, which teams from Turkey had shown interest before, and even that right now, Besiktas wants him more than Galatasaray does— I know the entire process from start to finish. "Sometimes I have to swallow certain things because during the time I was doing agency work, the things we discussed in friendly chats with the people I knew had to stay there. "I'll say just this much; Right now, the clearest interest in this kid in Turkey is from Besiktas. "It's beyond comprehension how a name that wasn't on Galatasaray's list just three days ago suddenly becomes a player they've been interested in for a long time! "Additionally, Rangers wants a flat 30 million Euros for Chermiti! No loans or anything like that! I'm saying it so you know. "If Besiktas agrees tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised at all— I'd say it's a great move.. If Galatasaray gets bold and spends 30 million on a guy to back up Osimhen, I'd say 'then why the hell have you been chasing loan players all this time', but I'd congratulate them.. Just so you know." Speaking last month, Chermiti played down speculation over his future. He said: “I'm very happy here. “I like Glasgow, I like the club and everyone likes me as well. I think everyone is just trying to help me with my development." Get more Daily Record exclusives by signing up for free to Google’s preferred sources. Click HERE.
