Alnwick-born boxer Archie Smith defends lightweight belt with impressive win Local boxer Archie Smith was victorious again over the weekend. Wansbeck Warriors boxer Archie Smith successfully defended his lightweight belt at the weekend when he came out on top against Omah Dizzyee. It was the second time that the Alnwick-born boxer has fended off a rival for the belt, with Smith taking command of a good fight at the Salt Market Social Club in North Shields from the first bell and winning by a unanimous decision. His record now stands at 11 wins from 12 fights - and he has four belts to his name. Seventeen-year-old Finley Robertson – with four wins out of five - had been first up to the apron for the Warriors in a bout of three rounds against Quinn Dodds from Unit 13. After a contest which provided end-to-end entertainment, it was Robertson’s hand which was raised. Wansbeck Warriors coach Alan Buller said: “Well done to both clubmates Archie and Finley – they are both a credit to their club.”
