Yzzy Taylor | We showed our quality in the second half Swansea City Women's head coach Yzzy Taylor felt her side showed the levels expected of them during the second half of their 8-0 pre-season victory over Cascade Youth Club Ladies. A five-goal haul from Chloe Chivers, alongside strikes from Aimee Deacon, Lowri Jones and Jess Williams, saw the Swans make it three wins from three in pre-season. It was not all straightforward for Taylor's side, who struggled to find their rhythm during the first half and, despite going into the break two goals to the good courtesy of Chivers, knew they needed to significantly improve during the second 45 minutes. The players did just that, producing a professional second-half performance while adding six more goals, a number of which came through well-worked attacking moves. Taylor was pleased to see her side raise their performance levels after the break, and was particularly impressed not only by the number of goals scored, but the manner in which they were created. "We knew what to expect from the opposition. I think in the first half we didn't really produce the level of performance that we wanted to," she said. "We spoke at half-time about how we needed to improve. Not just technically, but our whole game needed to be lifted to the levels that we know we should be achieving. "The second half was much better. We scored some really well-worked goals, rather than just hit-and-hope shots or goals that were against the run of play. "It's something that we speak about continuously, making sure we're proud not only of scoring goals, but also the type of goals that we score. "We were proud of our goalscoring record last season. It was really important for us to maintain that going into pre-season and then into the league campaign. "There are still a few things that we need to tidy up on, but we will always make sure we have players in dangerous areas and they were able to convert those chances, which shows in the scoreline. "It's another clean sheet, which is something we're really proud of. There are fundamentals that we always talk about and things that we rectify going into different games, but we were solid at the back. "Both of our goalkeepers were excellent as well, and made some big saves at important times. I think when you're robust enough in that area, it allows our creative players to go forward and really express themselves." Taylor was also pleased with a number of individual performances, with Chivers' five-goal showing accompanied by impressive displays from Deacon and new signing Quianna Wheeler. "Chivers once again showed that she has quality in abundance. She scored goals with both feet, she's always threatening and she's a player we know can produce those levels," added Taylor. "There were some particularly good performances as well. Aimee Deacon was superb and, for such a young player she is so strong and intelligent with her movement off the ball, while she looks after the ball really well. "I thought Quianna did really well too. She put in a lot of hard work and was playing in a position that she will be a little unfamiliar with, but again she threatened their backline."
