David Causier defeated Robert Hall 1,014-94 to win the 2026 Northern Open at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, England. The world number one and reigning world champion was in a ruthless mood and dominated the action in Leeds as he only once failed to win a match in the two-day event by less than a 500-point winning margin. A total of 79 cueists embarked on the famous venue in Leeds for the event, which was previously known as the Jim Williamson Open. Causier romped through his five-player group with a top break of 628 before beating Paul Robinson 645-83 in the last 32. An incredible tournament high break of 816 then helped him to a 1,218-point winning margin in the next round against John Hughes before further defeats of Jonathan Marwood (747-264) and Wayne Doyle (1,103-228) earned Causier a spot in the title match. It was a repeat of the 2024 World Billiards Championship final as Hall beat former world champion Peter Gilchrist (499-309) to set up another meeting with Causier. Causier continued to look unstoppable, however, and scored breaks of 100, 514 and 149 en route to a dominant 1,014-94 victory to add another ranking title to his ever-growing collection. The World Billiards season continues with the Vimy Ridge Classic in Winnipeg, Canada on 27-31 August 2026.
