The Brazilian heavyweights are said to have made a move to recruit the former England international, who is thought to be assessing “several options”. Posting on X, he said: “São Paulo have approached Jamie Vardy to join the club as free agent. “Surprise move by the Brazilian side to tempt Leicester City legend. Vardy, assessing several options with final decision on his future club not made yet.” Sheffield Wednesday eyeing Jamie Vardy At the weekend, Owls owner David Storch spoke candidly regarding interest in Vardy. He told talkSPORT: “At some point, I’ll be able to tell a story. This might not be the right time. But yeah, Jamie is somebody we would like to have in our club. “Let’s just say he’d be someone we’d be thrilled to have on the club, and unfortunately we do have these restrictions. We’re trying to figure out how to get around the restrictions to put something in front of Jamie that would make sense for him.” The signing of Vardy would be quite the statement of intent from Wednesday, although a deal would not be easy to do. Not only does the veteran marksman seemingly have an option in Brazil, he has been linked with Championship promotion hopefuls West Ham United. He also poured cold water on the prospect of a Hillsborough return earlier in the summer. When asked about the possibility of a Wednesday return in June, Vardy replied: “In short, no. It's one of them things, I've always said that once I was let go then that chapter was kind of...shut. That's just me, that's how I am. It wasn't meant to be so it's never meant to be, kind of thing.”
