Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto has revealed he will not name a club captain and will instead rely on a number of leaders for the upcoming season. Toti Gomes and Kieran Trippier have been sharing the armband during pre-season and both had it for one half each in the win over Racing Santander at Molineux. But the head coach was reluctant to name either of them as the official club captain and says he will decide who wears the armband by choosing from his leadership group ahead of games. “Not only one, I have three now, but maybe it can be one or two more,” Peixoto said when asked who his captain was. “I want four or five captains and after that I choose who will wear the armband in the games. “I put Toti in the first half, Kieran in the second half. Andre and Raul are also captains. “You're going to see what we're doing, but the important thing is the team, the group spirit is fantastic. “The guys worked very hard in pre-season, finished the pre-season and I'm happy with the game. “But we have to improve a lot to have a great season.” Trippier is expecting to play a key role for Wolves in 2026/27, alongside returning club hero Raul Jimenez. Peixoto knows the importance of both players, but is more interested in the quality of his squad as a whole. “Two important players, but I look at the team, all the squad, I want to play as a unit, as a team, defend as a unit,” Peixoto added. “You see in the game, all the players, when someone commits a mistake, run to steal the ball as soon as possible. “All the players know what you have to do without the ball and with the ball. “For sure, Kieran and Raul are two great players, but the team is more important for me. “They’re leaders because of their status as players, but with their personality, the way they work day by day in all the training sessions, I'm very happy with them. “But again, I look at the whole squad. “For me, it's the most important thing. Nothing stays above the team.”
