Exclusive:Portsmouth run rule over £8m former Nottingham Forest and UD Almeria man at Bristol Rovers Pompey are running the rule over free agent Arvin Appiah. The man who joined Spanish side UD Almeria from Nottingham Forest for £8m in 2019, was part of John Mousinho’s side who drew 1-1 at Bristol Rovers today. Appiah came through the ranks at Nottingham Forest before earning his big-money move to the Spanish side, which was one of the largest paid by a Segunda Division side for a player. The 25-year-old is a free agent this summer and featured at left-back for Pompey when coming on at the break, before being taken off late on. Appiah has also played on loan at the likes of Portuguese side Nacional, Spanish outfits Tenerife and Malaga, as well as a Championship stint with Rotherham United in the 2023-24 campaign. Pompey are extremely light in the left-back department, with Connor Ogilvie and Jacob Farrell sidelined along with Zak Swanson. Versatile full-back Jordan Williams featured on the left at the Memorial Stadium today, before Appiah was introduced at the interval.
