GREATER Western Sydney half-back Lachie Ash has been fined for abusive language towards an umpire again, while Essendon is facing another hefty fine. Ash was charged with misconduct in the round 19 game against Essendon last month and fined $5000. On that occasion, the Match Review Officer deemed the charge of 'abusive language towards an umpire' "inadequate" and slapped Ash with a harsher sanction. Four weeks later, the Giant has now been cited again, this time charged with abusing an umpire in Sunday's win over West Coast. He can accept a $1000 fine with an early plea. The Bombers, meanwhile, are facing yet another fine for repeated umpire contact offences. Midfielder Jye Caldwell has been charged for making careless contact with an umpire in the loss to Sydney, marking Essendon's seventh such offence this year. Gold Coast, Essendon, Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs have all been fined $20,000 for hitting the threshold of five charges in a season, while the Bombers were sanctioned a second time after copping a sixth charge. The Bulldogs are also facing another sanction after Lachlan Bramble was cited in the draw with Carlton.
