The Hoops are searching for a long-term replacement for former number one Kasper Schmeichel after he retired in May. Horkas, 27, had been identified as a potential candidate, especially after he made it clear he wanted a transfer - but Las Palmas President Miguel Angel Ramirez now claims Celtic haven’t cut the mustard in negotiations. The Croatian has reportedly also attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League. Hoops keeper Viljami Sinisalo has proved to be a more than capable backup to Schmeichel. He took over duties between the sticks last season and his shot-stopping helped the Hoops secure the domestic double. The Finland international is set to keep his place this season with very little competition for places. In turn, Celtic are looking for another body for between the sticks. Celtic’s Horkas pursuit deemed unattractive Speaking to Tinta Amarilla , Ramirez claimed: “Dinko Horkas is a UD Las Palmas player who has asked to leave the club. "The club won't let him go because the only offer we have [from Celtic] isn't attractive to the club. He says it will be difficult for him to continue playing for UD Las Palmas since he had an offer from Saudi, that would have been a lifesaver. "Horkas says he doesn't feel strong or motivated to be on the team. But we have other ways he can contribute to help the team. If he doesn't want to play, he can still help us mark the pitch or put up the nets. He has a contract with UD Las Palmas and will stay at the club if the offer he has doesn't meet UD Las Palmas' expectations.” What was Celtic’s offer for Horkas? Asked what the club want for a fee, Ramirez claimed Celtic were looking to pay Las Palmas in instalments for their number one. He continued: “We're talking about five million. They're offering us four million to be paid over four years. We're asking for five million and 50 per cent of any future transfer fee.” The second tier Spanish side signed Horkas from Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv in 2024. Since then, he’s been the main man between the sticks, making 54 appearances. As a youngster he came through the ranks at Dinamo Zagreb and was awarded his first team debut at just 17. While at the Croatian champions, he enjoyed loan spells at Zrinjski Mostar, Varazdin and Posusje.
