Celtic are behind rival clubs in the race to sign Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkaš. That does not mean Celtic have walked away, but they may need to improve their offer if they want to move ahead of the other interested clubs. The situation has changed several times over the summer. Celtic had scouted the Croatian goalkeeper and held a real interest in signing him, although no formal bid had been confirmed at the start of the window. Reports later claimed an offer of around €4 million had been made, but that figure was questioned at the time. Horkaš remained open to leaving Las Palmas while interest from other clubs continued to build. Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez has now confirmed that Celtic submitted an offer. The proposal is understood to be worth €4 million, with the payments spread across four years. Las Palmas want €5 million and are also asking for 50 per cent of any future transfer fee. That means the problem is not only the difference in the basic fee. The Spanish club are unhappy with how Celtic want to pay the money and also want a large share of any future sale. The clubs behind those bids have not been named, and there is no sign that Las Palmas have accepted any of them. However, Celtic are not leading the race on the current terms. Horkaš has asked to leave, but Las Palmas are ready to keep him if their demands are not met. There is also no confirmation that Celtic are preparing another offer. The Hoops are looking to add another goalkeeper, although Viljami Sinisalo is currently seen as Martin O’Neill’s first choice. For now, Horkaš wants to move on, Las Palmas are holding their position and Celtic’s offer remains below the rival bids already made.
