Las Palmas have indicated they are close to finalising a deal with another club for Dinko Horkaš, despite fresh reports in Spain claiming Celtic have made a €4 million bid for the goalkeeper.
The Croatian has been linked with Parkhead throughout the summer, but the picture around his future has remained unclear.
Those claims also suggested talks were continuing.
However, CeltsAreHere sought clarification directly from Las Palmas and received a different update.
“We are close to finalising a deal with another club,” a senior source at the Spanish side told CeltsAreHere.
When asked which club was involved, the source added: “I can’t tell you the club, sorry.”
The Hoops cannot be completely ruled out, but the latest information from Las Palmas suggests another option is now much further along.
That report came despite CeltsAreHere understanding the goalkeeper had been monitored and would have been open to a move to Glasgow.
Horkaš had been scouted by Celtic as they looked at their long-term options in goal, but the club had not followed that interest with a formal bid at that stage.
Las Palmas were also waiting for a response, while another club had already tested their position with an offer which was rejected.
Fresh reports in Spain have now brought Celtic back into the conversation, but the direct message from Las Palmas is that talks with another club are close to being completed.
Dinamo Zagreb have been linked with Horkaš elsewhere in Spain, although there is no confirmation that they are the side now closest to signing him.
The source would not reveal the identity of the club involved.
The identity of that club is still unknown, but Horkaš now appears closer to moving elsewhere despite the renewed Celtic reports.
