Celtic’s talks with Real Oviedo for winger Haissem Hassan seem to be dragging on. Now, the second-tier Spanish club’s sporting director, David Fernandez, has insisted they are firmly in control of any decision regarding the player’s future. Celtic do remain locked in talks for the World Cup star as Celtic continue to pursue the World Cup winger. Earlier this week, reports claimed Celtic had already reached an agreement with both the player and Real Oviedo. However, CeltsAreHere understood those claims were premature and chose not to report them. Since then, the journalist responsible for the initial report has deleted the social media post. That said, negotiations have not broken down. CeltsAreHere understands discussions remain ongoing as Celtic continue to explore a move for Hassan, who enters the final year of his contract with the Spanish side. Speaking at a press conference, quoted by RecordSport, Fernandez made it clear that while Oviedo are prepared for movement before the transfer window closes, any departures will happen on the club’s terms. “We are prepared for anything that might happen. We already have a significant portion of the squad with us. “This is all a club decision. We’re going to try to keep the best players and let go of those who need to leave. “Everything that happens makes us activate or deactivate things. Everything that happens is part of the job.” Although Hassan is approaching the final 12 months of his deal, the Spanish club are under no obligation to sell unless they receive an offer they believe reflects the winger’s value. The Scottish champions have not given up hope of landing the attacker, but there is still work to be done before any agreement can be reached. With the transfer window entering a crucial stage, Hassan remains a genuine target for Celtic, but suggestions that the deal is already complete remain well ahead of where negotiations currently stand.
