Eight transfers Arsenal can complete this week as prolific striker and England star arrive
There could be a flurry of transfer activity before Arsenal begin the defence of their Premier League title
It could be a busy week on and off the pitch at Arsenal as the Premier League champions gear up for the start of their title defence.
Frank Lampard's Coventry City are the visitors to Emirates Stadium on Friday for the 2026/27 curtain-raiser. By then, the Gunners may have added four new signings to their ranks.
It's been a fairly productive summer for the Gunners so far, with top target Bruno Guimaraes arriving from Newcastle. He followed winger Christos Tzolis and keeper Illan Meslier through the door, while Piero Hincapie turned his loan from Bayer Leverkusen into a permanent deal.
But there are still gaps to be filled across the pitch, including up front. After missing out on Vinicious Junior and (probably) Julian Alverez, the Gunners have turned their attention to Victor Osimhen, who is close to realising his long-held dream of playing in the Premier League.
Arsenal are the frontrunners to land the Nigerian but would have to pay at least £58million, and possibly more. The wheels of any move could be greased with a player or two going in the other direction, with Galatasaray keen on both Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Martinelli has reportedly indicated he doesn't want to join the Turkish giants, but the Gunners are open to offers for the Brazilian, and it would be no surprise to see him move on this week after being left out of the squad for the Community Shield. As for Nwaneri, Mikel Arteta has said he wants the youngster to stay but added he will do what's best for the player.
The Gunners also want to bolster their defence, with William Saliba facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Having seen a bid for Ezri Konsa knocked back by Aston Villa, Arsenal have turned their attention to Jarell Quansah of Leverkusen, who are also reluctant to sell.
Arsenal remained interested in Konsa but will have to up their initial bid to closer to £60m to have a chance of landing the England defender. The Gunners won't sign both defenders, so it will be one or the other.
In midfield, Brighton's promising young midfielder, Jack Hinshelwood, could be on his way to the Gunners. As for departures, Reiss Nelson could complete his move to West Ham after talks between the two clubs.
Meanwhile, following the arrival of Guimaraes - and the potential signing of Hinshelwood - Martin Zubimendi could be allowed to leave amid interest from clubs in Spain and Chelsea.
Fabio Vieira could be on his way back to Hamburg on a permanent deal following a successful loan. The German side are hoping to drive down the price after their option-to-buy expired as the fee was deemed too much.
