Kyabram sharpshooter Anthony DePasquale booted a career-high seven goals in Werribee’s 59-point thumping of Sandringham out at Avalon Airport Oval, five of those coming in a rampant first half.
DePasquale also collected 17 disposals and nine marks to go with an accurate 7.1 haul, a clear best-on-ground in a timely performance to boot as the Tigers, finishing second on the ladder, eye finals.
He now has 20 goals to his name from seven games in the State league, as well as 32 majors from his eight performances in the Goulburn Valley League.
Meanwhile, Goulburn Valley product Tanner Armstrong did not look out of place in his VFL debut with Richmond.
The Richmond NGA prospect was a positive addition in the Tigers’ final game of the season, tallying 16 disposals and six marks in Richmond’s 48-point win over St Kilda.
Richmond Academy leader Harmit Singh said a VFL debut was ample reward after a strong season on the park for the rising star.
“Tanner has been working diligently on his craft at Scotch College, Murray Bushrangers and Vic Country,” he said.
"VFL selection is a great reward for effort with Tanner after being involved with the Club's Academy for the past five years.”
Elsewhere, Carlton booked its finals ticket with several GV talents helping to guide them there.
Echuca duo Cody Walker and Logan Prout spurred the Blues to a 31-point win over reigning premiers Footscray, while Shepparton Swans star Oli Warburton logged an industrious 13 touches as the Ikon Park natives clinched the final wildcard spot.
