Joseph Opoku on target as Swansea City end pre-season with win over Leganes
Swansea claimed a well-earned win over Leganes on Saturday afternoon
Swansea City rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win over Leganes at the Swansea.com Stadium
Joseph Opoku gave the Swans the lead with a well-taken strike from around 35 yards towards the end of the first half, and his strike proved enough to seal victory.
Zan Vipotnik came off the after missing the three games out in Austria with a knock, but centre-back duo Stephen Welsh and Ben Cabango missed out due to illness.
Cameron Congreve was also absent amid news he's closing in on a permanent move to Belgian side Westerlo.
Alvaro Tejero had skied over early on for the visitors during a lively opening, while Elijah Just drilled a low effort just wide.
Fellow Kiwi Marko Stamenic had the game's first shot on target, forcing a smart save as part of what was turning into a fairly promising outing for the hosts.
And they duly took the lead just before the break.
Adam Idah seized on a sloppy pass back to goalkeeper Raul Fernandez, who had initially slid in to take the ball away from the Irishman.
However, he could only divert the ball to Opoku, who hit it first time and into the net from
Opku fired narrowly wide early in he second half as the Swans looked to extend their advantage.
A number of changes for both sides stemmed the momentum of the game, with Lawrence Vigouroux, a bystander for much of the afternoon.
However, he was called into action late on to keep out Alejandro Milan Iranzo's lob, before Gonzalo Lopez headed narrowly over from a corner deep into stoppage-time.
A useful afternoon's work for Vitor Matos and his side, who turn their attention to Birmingham City in the Carabao Cup next weekend.
