Women's Soccer Earns Draw Against USC Upstate 8/16/2026 9:32:00 PM | Women's Soccer CHARLESTON, S.C - The College of Charleston women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw in the match against USC Upstate played at Patriots Point on Sunday. The Cougars fell behind early when the Spartans scored a goal in the ninth minute off a corner kick to make the score 0-1. Ainsley Chunn made a clutch save in the 31st minute to hold the Spartans at one goal before the Cougars responded in the 37th minute. Defender Caitlyn Toubia scored a goal on a long kick down the field to tie up the match 1-1 going into the half. It was the first career goal for the junior. The Cougar defense shined in the second half, as Chunn tacked on three more saves. Emma Stankunas also played a key role in the Cougar's defense, including a great stop to slow down the Spartans attack in the box in the 39th minute. In the final ten seconds, Chunn remained strong in the box and the Cougars were able to stop the Spartans from taking the win after three shot attempts on the corner kick. Maggie Wadsworth led the Cougars with four shots in the match, followed by Mary Martin Spinner with three. Charleston women's soccer will be back in action on Thursday to take on Ole Miss at Patriots Point. Kickoff will be at 8:00pm, and there will be a CofC cowboy hat giveaway at the door for Country Night (while supplies last).
