Spanish-born Nigerian goalkeeper Darlington Osuchukwu has taken to social media to confirm his departure from Premier League giants Manchester United.
The Red Devils announced their scholarship intake nine days ago, with Osuchukwu's name surprisingly absent from the list of fifteen players.
It has now emerged that the young goalkeeper already has a new club lined up, with Spanish sports daily AS reporting that he will complete a move to Athletic Bilbao in the coming days.
Manchester United did everything in their power to convince the 2009-born goalkeeper to remain at the academy as they believed in his potential, but he had already made up his mind to continue his development at Athletic Bilbao.
Osuchukwu is aware that Athletic Bilbao has a strong reputation for developing top-class goalkeepers, with the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Andoni Zubizarreta, Álex Remiro and Unai Simón all products of the club's youth system.
Before joining Manchester United four years ago, he played for Gazte Berriak's youth team in Ansoáin, Navarre, and also trained with Osasuna.
The Murcia native was part of the Spain squad that won the Algarve Tournament and became provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth after featuring in a European U17 Championship qualifier against Scotland in March 2026.
Osuchukwu departs Manchester United without making a competitive appearance for either the U18s or the development squad.
