Scott Brown has emerged as a managerial target for Derry City following the club’s decision to part company with Tiernan Lynch, according to a report. The former Celtic captain has been out of management since leaving Ayr United earlier this year, with his spell at Somerset Park coming to an end in March after more than two seasons in charge. Having previously managed Fleetwood Town in England, Brown could now be set for a move into Irish football if Derry decide to press ahead with their interest. The Irish Mirror reports that the League of Ireland Premier Division outfit have sounded out the 41-year-old over the vacant position. Derry acted after dismissing Lynch on Wednesday, with the manager overseeing just six league victories from 26 matches during the current campaign. The club’s disappointing season has come despite significant investment in the squad, including the arrival of former Republic of Ireland international James McClean, whose social media activity recently fuelled speculation over tensions behind the scenes. Away from management speculation, Brown has also been making headlines this week following his war of words with former Celtic captain Peter Grant, as the pair exchanged public criticism.
