KEITH JACKSON: Absolutely. Derek McInnes will still be working out who he can trust on the pitch and off it. He has every right to feel let down by his recruitment department after starting the top flight season without the wingers and difference makers he needs in the final third. It's time to get the finger out. ANDY NEWPORT: Yes. Stiffening Rangers’ spine was objective No1 this summer but McInnes has been on at the men at the top of the Marble Staircase for weeks to find him the flair players Gers badly lack. He needs better quality and now. GAVIN BERRY: Absolutely. It was glaringly obvious at Tannadice - and has been throughout pre-season - that they are short in that department yet they kicked off a new season with the new manager so short of wide options. Hearts threw away three opening-day points at Pittodrie - can we expect them to challenge for the title this season? KEITH JACKSON: It certainly doesn't look like it at this point but it's early days for Wouter Vrancken. Fingers crossed the Belgian finds his feet quickly as the top flight needs all the competition it can get. ANDY NEWPORT: I always thought matching last season’s efforts would be unrealistic given the amount of key departures but I have to say, the last couple of weeks look concerning for the Jambos. The granite chin they relied on last season was smashed again in the Granite City. GAVIN BERRY: No - but not just based on the fact they lost the opening game. That can happen at a tough venue such as Pittodrie. Last season was a remarkable one for Hearts. It all came together for them but it's unreasonable to expect the same again. It’s Flag Day at Parkhead today - what do Celtic need to bring in to ensure they’re back celebrating a sixth successive crown next year? KEITH JACKSON: That depends on who heads out of the exit door before the end of the month. Arnie Engles and Alistair Johnston will need replaced as a matter of urgency and if Reo Hatate and Paulo Bernardo join the exodus then Martin O'Neill will require a major midfield reboot. ANDY NEWPORT: Having addressed his frontline, I reckon MON will be keen to bolster his back four. But with another month to go and so many question marks over existing stars like Engels, Johnston and Hatate, Celtic might yet be forced into another late scramble for signings. GAVIN BERRY: It's a case of quality over quantity. The champions could do with a winger - possibly Fares Ghedjemis - and a midfielder which looks like it could be Mika Baur. If Arne Engels departs then a replacement for the Belgian, possibly Gvidas Gineitis. On top of that a back-up left back and maybe even a central defender should be enough. Falkirk were last year’s shock troops - but is Bairns boss John McGlynn a shock contender for the Scotland job? KEITH JACKSON: No. McGlynn is without question the perfect fit for Falkirk but that doesn't qualify him for the international gig. The SFA must show a whole lot more ambition by thinking outside of the box. ANDY NEWPORT: If the SFA can’t recruit a big-name candidate from abroad then I’d like to see them give McGlynn a shout. His Falkirk team makes the most of meagre resources and entertains too. It would be a heck of a jump from Falkirk to Hampden but if he can scale up those methods, he could be a decent appointment. GAVIN BERRY: He would be a solid appointment but I just don't think it's a road the SFA will go down or an appointment that would excite the Tartan Army. But they could do a lot worse.
