Grealish spent last season on loan at Everton before the Toffees opted against triggering their option to buy clause. Their decision came after he amassed one goal and six assists in 22 appearances for the club. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old missed the end of last season as he underwent surgery on a foot fracture in February. After returning to training in pre-season, he made his City comeback in Enzo Maresca's first competitive match as manager. What did Maresca say? Despite a 3-0 defeat in Cardiff, his manager has hinted Grealish could feature for the side this season. Speaking after the match, Maresca explained: "He's here with us. Until he's not here with us I'll try to help him. If he's here he will play games." Grealish joined City in a £100million deal from Aston Villa back in 2021. Having signed a six-year contract, his deal does not expire until the end of the season. The former England international has made 158 appearances for the club across all competitions, those outings have seen Grealish score 17 goals and provide 23 assists. He has won seven major trophies including three Premier League titles and the Champions League. City transfer update Maresca also hinted at more new signings before the transfer window closes on September 1. He added: "We knew already before the game the things we need to do. We know what we have to do." City have already made five new signings this summer, with club-record addition Elliot Anderson starting against Arsenal. The England midfielder signed from Nottingham Forest for £116million in July. Barcelona's imminent signing of Rodri could see City move for another midfielder. They did not launch a bid for Enzo Fernandez before Chelsea imposed a deadline to offer £120million on Friday, though.
