Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Arsenal for Victor Osimhen as Roberto De Zerbi continues his search for attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes. With the transfer window closing in two weeks, Roberto De Zerbi has admitted that he expects at least two more signings to arrive, with strengthening the attack now firmly on Tottenham’s agenda. Cody Gakpo and Savinho remain the two names highest on Spurs’ wishlist and the most advanced options at this stage, with both players having already agreed personal terms and Tottenham now waiting for their respective clubs to give the green light. Among the other forwards linked with a move to North London is Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances over the last two seasons in Turkey, helping explain why Galatasaray value him at around £65m. However, the transfer fee may not be the only obstacle standing in Tottenham’s way. Tottenham and Arsenal have held Victor Osimhen talks TeamTalk have reported that Tottenham are among a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, to have held ‘internal talks’ over the possibility of signing Osimhen. There were reports from Turkey earlier this month claiming that Spurs had already made a £55m approach for the striker, but TeamTalk state that no formal bid or advanced negotiations have yet taken place. Osimhen is nevertheless believed to be ‘keen on switching to the Premier League’, having held ambitions of playing in England for some time. His wages could make that difficult, though, with the figure representing a major hurdle for any interested club, including Tottenham as we’ve reported before. The 27-year-old is currently on £309,000 per week before tax in Turkey, and the higher tax rate in England means a potential suitor would need to structure a significantly larger package to match his current earnings. Galatasaray have no plans to sell Victor Osimhen There is another major obstacle for Tottenham and any other interested clubs, with Galatasaray themselves under no pressure to sell their star striker. The Super Lig champions signed Osimhen permanently last summer after his loan spell from Napoli, paying a Turkish club record fee in the process, and he remains under contract until 2029. Galatasaray are therefore not actively looking for a buyer and would demand a substantial fee if a serious approach arrives. In fact, they have already rejected an eye-watering €130m (£111.2m) offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal in recent days, so Tottenham could have quite the task on their hands if they are to pry him away from Turkey.
