Exeter City defender Johnly Yfeko linked with move to Scottish Premiership side Reports in Scotland say Kilmarnock are closing in on a deal to sign the defender Kilmarnock are closing in on a deal to sign Exeter City defender Johnly Yfeko, as per reports in Scotland. The Daily Record reports that Neil McCann is looking to bring the former Rangers youngster in to give left-sided defensive cover to his Killie squad, and Yfeko is top of their target list. The 23-year-old initially joined City on-loan from Rangers before he signed permanently last year. But the defender has been plagued by injuries over his spell at St James Park. He made just 13 appearances in his first season before the Grecians triggered their option to sign him permanently. He made only 18 appearances in his second season with City, but has been fit and featuring regularly during pre-season, including starting the two previous friendlies against Truro City and Weston-super-Mare. Yfeko came through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City before he moved to Ibrox in 2022. The defender made a number of B team appearances for Rangers. The Daily Record report that Killie hope to get the deal finalised for Yfeko to make his debut in the Premiership opener at St Johnstone on Sunday. The Grecians need to sell players this summer in order to fund any more signings with financial issues impacting the club, manager Matt Taylor told the BBC this week. "There's a market where loans can be either free loans or incredibly cheap," Taylor told BBC Radio Devon. "We're still in the market, but we're not active in terms of a financial market as it stands. But then there could be movement as well, and I'm not in the know of if and when that will come, that's for other clubs to decide."
