Tottenham Hotspur are still searching for attacking reinforcements with the summer transfer window entering its final weeks, and a towering Croatia international has now emerged as a name to watch. With barely two weeks left in the transfer window and the new Premier League season already underway, Tottenham remain without an attacking addition this summer. Roberto De Zerbi has already made it clear that strengthening his attack is now a priority, with several names linked to Spurs in recent weeks. Cody Gakpo, Victor Osimhen and Omar Marmoush have all emerged as potential options, although there are significant obstacles involved in each case. Tottenham currently have Richarlison and Dominic Solanke as their two main number nine options, but neither has provided the level of consistency required up front to compete at the highest level. Spurs are therefore continuing to look at the market, and another name has now emerged fresh from the World Cup. Igor Matanovic is one to watch for Tottenham Hotspur Transfer expert Ben Jacobs brought up Igor Matanovic during an appearance on Last Word on Spurs while discussing Tottenham’s options at centre-forward. He said, “I heard Igor Matanovic the other day at Freiburg, who has had a good year or so of goalscoring and is quite a young and interesting profile. “He’s basically like a basketball player. I think he’s about six foot five, and he’s done very well since joining Freiburg. He’s been capped for Croatia. “I think it was about 15 goals in all competitions last season. Not necessarily the finished product, but one name to keep an eye on.” Matanovic’s numbers certainly suggest he could offer something different to Spurs, having bagged 19 goal contributions in 50 appearances for Freiburg last season. There is, however, one major concern Tottenham may have to consider, as injuries have already been a problem throughout their squad, and Matanovic does not have the strongest availability record himself. His previous highest appearance tally was only 32 games during the 23/24 campaign, while he has failed to cross 25 appearances in each season since 20/21. ‘Nothing developing there’: Ben Jacobs on Victor Osimhen Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with Tottenham over the last few weeks, but Jacobs does not currently have any information suggesting that a move is developing. “I’d be surprised because the wage is really high. I know Tottenham have broken their wage structure and all of that, but I’m not aware of anything developing yet with Victor Osimhen either. “I’m not saying rule out craziness at the end of the window. Like you say, De Zerbi’s promised a ‘bomba’. Maybe they’re going to pull out a surprise, but nothing to add there. “When I spoke to Galatasaray sources the other day, they said no approach yet from anybody for Victor Osimhen and they still insist that he’s very happy there. “And I remember from covering it when Chelsea were negotiating for Victor Osimhen, the wage was incredibly high. So at this stage, nothing to add.”
