Tottenham Hotspur could be involved in a major transfer battle for a highly-rated Germany U21 international in the final two weeks of the transfer window. Over the past few days, a number of sources have suggested that Roberto De Zerbi’s men could add a centre-forward to their squad before the window slams shut. Names such as Victor Osimhen and Folarin Balogun have been mooted as potential targets for Spurs, but the Lilywhites also have their eye on a highly-rated German starlet. It first emerged a couple of weeks ago that Tottenham were considering a move for Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi following the injury to Eli Junior Kroupi. While Spurs are ‘increasingly turning’ to the German, so are two of their rivals: Chelsea and Manchester United, who are both looking to add reinforcements to their forward line. Club Brugge are aware of the growing interest in Tresoldi, but they have already shown that they will not be pushovers, having turned down a €35m (£30m) bid from AS Roma for the player earlier this summer. The report says that it is likely to take a fee of around €45m-€50m (£38.4m-£42.7m) to price the youngster away from the Belgian club at this stage of the window. Barcelona are leading the race for Tresoldi While the Premier League trio are exploring a move for the former Hannover man, it is Barcelona who are favourites to land the striker. The Catalan giants are desperate to add a centre-forward to their squad, having lost Roberto Lewandowski and with Ferran Torres edging closer to a move to PSG. They are thus ‘accelerating’ their efforts to land Tresoldi. With Atletico Madrid refusing to sell Barca’s top target, Julian Alvarez, Hansi Flick’s men have identified the 21-year-old as a ‘decent low-cost option’.
