Hibs Euro rivals arrive without head coach amid red tape drama
KF Shkendija ready to face down ‘physical’ Hibs and front up to hostile home crowd
Hibs Euro rivals KF Shkendija arrived in Scotland WITHOUT their head coach tonight. But the North Macedonians hope to have Artim Polozani in the away technical area at Easter Road for tomorrow’s UEFA Conference League clash with David Gray’s men.
Assistant coach Kushtrim Voka, speaking at the stadium this evening, revealed: “Due to the documentation, the head coach could not be present today. And for this reason, it is up me you to answer your questions.
Former Macedonia international’s delayed arrival
“Even though the head coach is not with us, everything is very clear. Every demand is very clear.
“And the only thing left for tomorrow is the tactical interpretation. And hopefully, we are very convinced that we go with a positive result back home.
“As for this game, I would identify as a little bit specific based on the profile of the team that we face. Let's call it a more British, more physical team. But be sure that we will answer in every aspect.”
Shkendija made it through the league phases before succumbing to Samsunspor in the first knock-out round of the competition last season, Voka – asked what Hibs can expect from his team – pointing out: “They can expect a grown and experienced team in this competition, which is very important.
“So, basically, to be very clear, we may have different styles, to be honest, in playing football. And we will try to put or to install our style to the Hibernian team. That's our target.”
Insisting they won’t be cowed by a large home support, he added: “The club has already reached a lot of levels that face a lot of fans. Like, for example, last year they played Steaua, which is also a very big club with a very hostile environment, and other high-level clubs.
“And in a professional way, we treat this only on the pitch. And this is the way how we prepare the players.
“Of course, the fans are very important. But we, as a staff and as players, have to do only the job that we have to do inside the field. So, this is the mindset we have.”
