Burnley player ratings vs West Ham as two 8/10s dished out
Player ratings from Burnley’s dramatic draw with West Ham
Burnley began their 2026/27 Championship campaign in dramatic fashion as they came from behind to draw with West Ham.
Ex-Millwall man Zian Flemming was at the double, scoring twice late on to help secure Nicky Hayen’s side a 2-2 draw in their league opener.
It was everything and more Burnley deserved for a brave, committed performance, where they showed great character to come from two goals down.
Here’s how Burnley’s players rated:
Player ratings
Max Weiss - 6
Nothing much he could have done about either goal, but distributed pretty well and took good command of his area.
Oliver Sonne - 7
Got forward really well from right back and almost equalised in the first half in bizarre circumstances with his long range header.
Kyle Walker - 7
Could have done more to help clear the corner for West Ham’s opener, but otherwise defended well and was much better in the second half. Still learning his new role.
Max Alleyne - 7
Didn’t actually notice a great deal of him, which is probably a good thing for a defender. Looks comfortable in possession.
Bashir Humphreys - 8
Had a really tough assignment up against Jarrod Bowen but stuck to his task really well, producing some crunching challenges. Fully committed.
Ugo Raghouber - 5
A mixed first league start. Looked neat and tidy in patches, but ragged and wasteful in possession at other times. Struggled a little and was brought off early.
Hannibal - 6
Great energy and commitment, producing some big challenges. But too often his final pass let him down. Needs to make better decisions at the crucial moments.
Aaron Ramsey - 6
Mixed. Let Kilman waltz past him for West Ham’s opener, but almost atoned straight afterwards when he skewed just wide. Some good touches, but tried to be too clever at times.
Marcus Edwards - 6
Mixed again. Came alive in the second half, producing some teasing crosses and winning the penalty. But got to be stronger for West Ham’s second.
Jacob Bruun Larsen - 6
Started really well and set up two big early chances, before dropping off a little. But carried a good threat from the wide area.
Zian Flemming - 8
Burnley’s hero with his two late goals. So unfortunate not to score beforehand, being denied by the post and a defender on the line. Key Burnley keep hold of him.
SUBS
Josh Laurent - 6
For Raghouber, 57
A little slow to move the ball at times, but flashed a dangerous late shot across goal as Burnley chased that equaliser.
Zeki Amdouni - 7
For Hannibal, 57
Looked really bright and full of energy, firing just over with one chance from outside the box. Could be big for Burnley if he stays.
Lucas Pires - 6
For Humphreys, 77
Got forward well from left back and offers a more adventurous outball down the flank, getting in one or two good crosses.
Armando Broja - 6
For Ramsey, 77
Linked up pretty well as Burnley looked to move the ball quickly late on. Interesting to see what happens during the final two weeks of the window.
Mike Tresor - 6
For Bruun Larsen, 82
Showed some good touches and look to feed players into space as the Clarets threw everything at West Ham during the final stages.
