West Ham forward Manor Solomon had an impressive debut to enjoy in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Burnley.
The 27-year-old, who only moved to East London six days ago for an initial £5.9 million, was handed a start by Nuno Espirito Santo at Turf Moor, with Edson Alvarez dropping to the bench in the 4-4-2 system.
Solomon had his first crack at goal on the half-hour mark, which was blocked before he fired over the bar on the stroke of half time.
West Ham had taken the lead through Max Kilman after just 10 minutes, and Solomon’s strike 18 minutes from time looked to have sealed all three points.
The winger capped off a brilliantly worked set-piece routine with a stunning strike to announce himself to the Hammers’ faithful in style.
Aside from the goal, Solomon was also tidy in goal today, completing 23 of his 25 passes and all three dribble attempts, losing just two of his six duel attempts.
While his signing still undoubtedly divides opinion, Solomon made a good first impression and now has at least a goal contribution in seven straight Championship matches.
However, his outing was ended on a sour note as he came off injured in the 89th minute to be replaced by fellow new signing Joel Veltman.
Solomon’s performance could not get Nuno’s men over the line as they conceded a late brace to Ziam Flemming, the second of which was a 92nd-minute equaliser.
