City went down 3-0 to Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday, with goals from Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard making for a difficult afternoon at the Principality Stadium.
However, with the new Premier League campaign under way next weekend when Bournemouth come to the Etihad Stadium at 14:00 (UK) on Sunday, Maresca says it’s time to look forward.
Dias reacts to Community Shield defeat
“We’ll analyse the game, the mistakes we have done and try to improve that. Then from Tuesday, we’ll focus on the Bournemouth game,” he said in an interview with City Studios.
“Now we start a normal plan with a normal week then in two weeks it will start with every three days.”
While it wasn’t the ideal start, Maresca says City’s preparations for the Community Shield were affected by availability following this summer’s World Cup and that the game will help be ready when the term begins in earnest.
“We are the team with most players involved in the World Cup,” he began.
“Some of them [the players] start training just two or three days ago, so it was important for them to get minutes and be ready for the Premier League.”
