Ex-Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi set for 11th club of career as he nears Germany exit Former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is poised to move to the Saudi Pro League, talkSPORT understands. Batshuayi spent the last season-and-a-half with Eintracht Frankfurt but is expected to join an as yet unnamed Saudi club. They would be the 11th club of the 32-year-old Belgium international's career to date. Having started out with Belgian side Standard Liege, Batshuayi moved to Marseille in 2014 before making the switch to Chelsea two years later. He scored 25 goals in 77 appearances for the Blues, netting five times en route to the 2016/17 Premier League title under Antonio Conte – despite only playing 236 minutes all season. Indeed, he notched the decisive goal against West Brom which wrapped up the title – though he was less than complimentary about his manager. Batshuayi said of Conte in 2022: "Conte was constantly contradicting himself. To start with my arrival. He called me and explained his project. He wanted me to play in a two-man frontline alongside Diego Costa. "Did I believe that? Of course, because Conte has played with two attackers all his career. Except at Chelsea with me. I do not understand. The truth is that I have been fooled far too often." Batshuayi's journeyman career Batshuayi spent much of his six years as a Chelsea player out on loan, turning out for Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace and Besiktas. He left Stamford Bridge permanently in 2022, signing for Fenerbahce after a proposed switch to Nottingham Forest collapsed on deadline day – before making history when he joined Galatasaray in 2024. By doing so, Batshuayi became the first non-Turkish player ever to represent all of Istanbul's Big Three rivals. His time in Turkey wasn't entirely smooth sailing, however – while playing for Fenerbahce against Trabzonspor, he was seen trying to kick a pitch-invading fan in the head amid tumultuous scenes in the stadium. His family were also subjected to death threats before he signed for Galatasaray. A Turkish Cup winner with Fenerbahce, Batshuayi was snapped up by Frankfurt in February last year. But he ultimately featured sparingly for the Bundesliga outfit, making only 10 appearances in all competitions last term. Batshuayi has earned 52 caps Belgium, playing at two World Cups – helping the Red Devils finish third in 2018 – and two European Championships. With 27 goals, he is his country's eighth-highest scorer of all time. He hasn't been capped for over two years, though, last appearing in a March 2024 friendly against England at Wembley.
