Leeds United still have a couple of sales they need to make this summer. One of those is Largie Ramazani. The Belgian winger has continuously been linked with a move back to Valencia throughout the summer transfer window. Speaking after our final pre-season game against Augsburg, Daniel Farke confirmed that Ramazani was not a part of his plans for next season, per Leeds Live. Another one of those players who are not a part of Farke’s plans would appear to be Joel Piroe. Whilst he may not have been frozen out to the same extent as Ramazani, it is clear the 27-year-old does not have a future in West Yorkshire. West Ham pursuing a deal for Joel Piroe Piroe was an unused sub in three out of United’s last four pre-season friendlies. In the Augsburg game, he was subbed on with around 15 minutes to go. According to Beren Cross’ latest report, Piroe wants to leave Leeds this summer. The Whites had reportedly slapped an ambitious £16million price tag on Piroe’s head. The striker’s agent felt as though this was an unrealistic amount to demand given how little he played last season. Piroe’s agent also claimed that if he was not sold this summer, he would be happy to run down the last year of his contract and leave as a free agent. However, Leeds may have found a buyer. According to a report by Rik Elfrink, West Ham have offered to buy the out-of-favour striker for £15million. The move would initially be a loan one; however, the Hammers would have an obligation to buy Piroe. The report does not state whether this obligation to buy only becomes active if West Ham win promotion. Sky Sports’ journalist Zinny Boswell’s report is similar to Elfrink’s. Boswell claims West Ham want to sign Piroe on loan with an obligation to buy, whilst Leeds would prefer a straight sale. Boswell’s report does not mention a potential fee. Getting £15million for Joel Piroe would be fantastic business Initially, it was hard to disagree with Piroe’s agent that Leeds had set too high an asking price for Piroe. Although we may not be getting that £16million entirely, the fact we could get anywhere close would be astonishing to me if the deal goes through. We initially bought Piroe for £10.5million from Swansea back in 2023. But the deal could have raised as high as £16million if all add-ons were met. The 49ers have already done a couple of spectacular deals this summer. But virtually breaking even on Piroe after that nightmare season he endured last year would arguably be the best of the bunch. Even if we have to wait a year to get the money for Piroe, it’s still an incredible deal. It’s almost too good to be true, so hopefully negotiations advance in the coming days and confirm this before we all get too excited.
