Who will win Benfica vs Hearts? Our writers deliver their predictions for Europa League qualifier
It's the draw from Hell for Hearts.
Benfica in the third qualifying round of the Europa League after being dumped out of the Champions League second round qualifiers by Sturm Graz,
Throw in a stoppage time collapse in their first game of the season at Pittodrie and it's been quite the start to life in the Tynecastle dugout for new boss Wouter Vrancken.
This will be his toughest test, although ironically the one he'll be judged on the least.
Marco Silva boasts a squad worth over £300million and the Lisbon giants will be among the contenders to win the this competition.
They are Champions League regulars and went unbeaten in the Portuguese League under Jose Mourinho last season.
Just about everyone expects them to cruise through this one and for the Jambos, it's about keeping things respectable then focusing on making it to the group stage of the Conference League.
Here's how the Record Sport team thinks this one could go.
Craig Swan
Hearts face a brutal examination in Lisbon and the odds are stacked against them. Wouter Vrancken’s side will need to stay as tight and disciplined as they can, but Benfica scored five at home in the last round and are overwhelming favourites.
Benfica 3 Hearts 0
Scott McDermott
If Sturm Graz can score four against the Jambos in Austria, don't rule out Benfica doing the same at the Stadium of Light. This is a mammoth task for Hearts and their new boss, especially considering the attacking threat posed by the Portuguese forwards like Duran and Pavlidis. It's a horrible draw and - given how Hearts have looked at the back so far - you have to imagine it will be a damage limitation job in Lisbon.
Benfica 4-0 Hearts
Scott Burns
It really has been a baptism of fire for Wouter Vrancken. He lost some of his key players, walked into an undercooked pre-season plan and been completely out of luck in both European draws. I would love to see Hearts take something from the Estadio de Luz but I just can’t see it. They are leaking too many goals and Benfica have so much quality going forward. Could be another long and tough night.
Benfica 3 Hearts 1

This is as tough as it gets for the Jambos. They'll still be smarting from their stoppage time collapse at Pittodrie and after being hit for six by Sturm Graz, they now face the Lisbon giants who were the highest ranked side in the qualifying and will have designs on winning the tournament. Keeping it respectable will be the mission brief.
Benfica 3 Hearts 0
Ryan McDonald
It's a dream Euro trip for the Hearts fans but it could be a chastening night on the pitch. After shipping six to Sturm Graz across two legs, you dread to think what the aggregate score might be against the Portuguese heavyweights.
Benfica 4 Hearts 0
