Nottingham Forest player ratings v Brest as star man clear and transfer inches closer Nottingham Forest were in action this afternoon in what was their final pre-season friendly game of the summer at the City Ground Luca Netz was the star of the show as Nottingham Forest rounded off their pre-season campaign with a comfortable victory over Ligue One Brest this afternoon. In their final assignment ahead of the Premier League opener against Leeds next weekend, Forest took a 2-0 lead into the break inspired by the German full-back's first-half performance. Netz won a penalty when he was hauled down by Mama Balde which allowed Chris Wood to score from the spot. Netz then got in on the act himself when he finished an excellent move which saw Callum Hudson-Odoi's feed Nicolas Dominguez whose excellent first-time pass was converted by Netz. Forest dominated the game at the City Ground where the first-team were given the afternoon off after they faced Coventry City in a behind-closed-doors friendly yesterday. The Reds also said goodbye to striker Taiwo Awoniyi at half-time as the first-team squad and the staff gave him a guard of honour before the players have him the bumps as he closes in on his move to Coventry City. In the second half, chances were at a premium for both sides as Forest protected their lead although a better pass from Arnaud Kalimuendo could have picked out Dilane Bakwa, but it was overhit and the chance for a third goal vanished. John Victor: Didn't have much to do in the first half apart from deal with a couple of backpasses that had a few sweating in the stands, but he dealt with them with confidence. 7 Jair Cunha: The centre-back had an interesting figure to deal with in the gigantic frame of Ludovic Ajorque but he never really looked in any trouble. 7 Zach Abbott: Apart from the first five minutes when Brest made a lively start, the defender had very little in the way to trouble him and it was a straightforward afternoon. 7 Morato: The Brazilian enjoyed himself in the sun and it was an afternoon in which he was never really given any real problems by the Brest attack. 7 Luca Netz: The star of the show. Good feet, good ability, great engine. Was happy to burst forward and provide support in the final third. Won the penalty and then rounded off an excellent move to score himself. 8 Nicolas Dominguez: The pass which found the run of Netz was excellent and the full-back took care of the rest. A fine showing in the heart of midfield. 7 Xaver Schlager: Looked good in the heart of midfield in what was a strong showing on an afternoon which was certainly comfortable for Oliver Glasner's men. 7 Eric Da Silva Moreira: Another impressive performer and was a good outlet on the right-hand side. Didn't have much to do defensively, but what he did have to do, he did well. 7 Chris Wood: Took the penalty and there was no doubt about it as soon as it left his boot. Presence up front was a good option for Forest to hit. 7 Callum Hudson-Odoi: The attacker chalked up 45 minutes before he was taken off as he looks to improve his match sharpness. Had a hand in the second goal. 7 Arnaud Kalimuendo: Switched from the right to the left in the second half and there were a couple of excellent runs which troubled the Brest defence. 7 Subs: Omari Hutchinson (Hudson-Odoi 45): Showed some good pace. 6 Dilane Bakwa (Wood 66): Tried to stretch the Brest defence. 6 Omar Richards (Cunha 77): Helped protect the clean sheet. 6 Tyler Bindon (Abbott 77): As above. 6
