Nottingham Forest also remain keen on the Swedish midfielder after they too saw a bid rejected earlier in the window. Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I think there'll be other clubs who'll be looking at Bergvall as well. Newcastle are interested as they want to bolster their midfield. "So it's an open race right now for Bergvall, and it all depends on what price Tottenham are willing to accept because De Zerbi is not actively pushing him out the door, but I think if the right offer comes, it's something that they will reluctantly agree to.” Newcastle have alternative targets as Brighton open to Carlos Baleba offers Matthias Jaissle's desire to improve his midfield options is Newcastle's main focus after Bruno Guimaraes' exit. While Bergvall remains a target from before he was appointed, the German boss has identified Brighton man Baleba as a target to bolster his ranks too.
