Pompey have signed nine players in the summer window so far - but John Mousinho is still targeting more.
John Mousinho is ‘hopeful’ of landing one new signing before Pompey’s trip to Lincoln City next Saturday.
And the head coach is targeting a further three additions before the transfer window’s climax on September 1 as activity ramps up in the final weeks.
Seven of Pompey’s nine summer signings featured, with starting roles for Rocco Shein, Abu Kamara and Luke Brooke-Smith, while Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Benjy Arthur, Marko Milovanovic and Odin Bailey all appeared from the bench.
Goalkeeper Daniel Bielica was an unused substitute, while youngster Eoin Kenny was left out of the 20-man squad.
Pompey boss optimistic over further signings ahead of Lincoln City
It’s been a busy summer in the market at Fratton Park, with Mousinho bolstering his squad in several areas as he assembles his new-look side.
And that is expected to continue in the final weeks of the window as the head coach targets further additions before deadline day.
After three signings this week, the Blues boss is optimistic at least one fresh face will arrive through the doors at PO4 before next Saturday’s trip to Lincoln City, where his troops will be hoping to pick up their first victory of the new campaign.
Mousinho told The News following Saturday’s defeat to QPR: ‘We’re still looking at filling a couple of positions.
‘I think nothing is imminent as in the next couple of days but I’m hopeful we may be able to do something before Lincoln.
‘We’ll still have to stay patient before the end of the window.’

Mousinho revealed earlier this week Pompey are looking to recruit a new versatile attacker in the final knockings of the window following Thomas Waddingham’s setback last week.
The Aussie is set to sit out 6-10 weeks of action after sustaining a serious ankle issue in the defeat to West Ham earlier this month.
Mousinho is also hoping to recruit a new number six before deadline day after missing out on Antalyaspor’s Jesper Ceesay - despite agreeing a deal with the Turkish side.
A move for the holding midfielder fell through earlier this week, with the 24-year-old falling short of the FA's 15-point GBE (Governing Body Endorsement) threshold.
